Boy it's been awhile.

Here are just a couple of inked things i did. The first was for my mom, whose law office full of ladies had an open house for the rest of the building to show everyone their newly refinished space, so i did an invitation featuring that character. The second I did for my business card. They turned out alright, but I think I'm going to make another design and print more. Oh, by the way, the elbow on the crocodile is supposed to be the more round one, I edited it out in photoshop for the business cards, but I just remembered it's still on the scan I'm putting up.

Pencil

I don't know where this will end up but I like it so far. That's my cat Clyde with the samurai helmet and katana. It's for Jennie, but as far as the background and how I'm going to color it is yet to be determined.

Add a little milk and bring it to a boil

Alright, so here are just some things I've been doing the last few days. Most of it is the project I was working on for my mom's birthday present, which is the watercolor of the kid and his pet dragon. Don't worry, I'll get a better quality scan soon, I took these with a camera and the lighting I had on it was too bright and kind of dulled the color, but you can definitely get the idea.

Luck is not on my side

I had some things to put up this week, but almost all my means of putting those things up are non-existent. Jennie doesn't have her camera stuff, Joe and Frances' computer is on the fritz (that's the computer my scanner is hooked up to), and I REALLY don't want to go to kinko's. But...it's looking like I might have to anyway, because I need to use a copier to enlarge a bunch of stuff, too. See you soon, I promise!

New Stuff

Alright, so here's some stuff I was dicking around with this week. First, just some sketchbook pages:

Not my proudest work, but I guess that's not what this blog is for. Anyway, the next couple of things are for a piece I'm working on for Russ, it's going to end up being a kid scared in bed with the covers pulled up, surrounded by monsters. So far I have the first two monsters pretty well planned out, but I still need to come up with the third monster and then arrange all the elements, pencil, ink, etc. Hopefully you'll watch it come together pretty soon, and it'll go from crappy pencil sketches to a finished piece:

I have no idea why that last one is on it's side like that, when I open it on my computer it looks fine. Anyway, tilt your head for fun eyeball drippy monster fun!

Okay...so the last couple of things are more finished products of sketches I've put up in the past couple of weeks. One is an inked picture of that crocodile from before, and the other is the (almost) finished watercolor of that wine bottle for my dad's cellar:

Sorry, this post doesn't have that much stuff I really loved, hopefully next week will be better.

I kind of lied...

Okay, so I've been pretty good about updating weekly on Fridays. I told a lot of people that I was going to post some stuff today, but unfortunately, it's going to have to wait until tomorrow, but I will try to get it done early in the day. Sorry if you came here expecting something new, check back tomorrow! Thanks everybody! Off to dinner! Here is some illustration and printmaking stuff that's sorta old, just to tide you over, hehe.

more doodles

So, I promise you two things:
#1: I will get a scanner soon so you don't have to see dark, crappy digital snapshots of my stuff, and...

#2: I will get to work on putting more up here than just sketchbook stuff. I'm going to try to start working on watercolor projects and i'm going to put up some smatterings of stuff i've already inked and some printmaking stuff from a couple years ago.

Anyway, here is some stuff I've been doodling the last couple days with my down time at work. You should understand that at my job, I work in this crappy system in which it takes like 40 seconds to load each screen, every time i click to view something else. Therefore, I click, then I pick up my pencil, then I click, and then I pick up my pencil, ad infinitum. Anyway, whatever, let's cut to the chase, shall we?

And here are some designs I did for my friend's band for shirts (which we DID make, btw):

And finally, a couple of old things I inked. This just goes to show I have a long way to go to become a better inker. I need better variation in my line weight and stuff, but hopefully we'll see some growth in that area as I keep this thing going. I'll have to ink some of that sketchbook stuff above ^^.

well, it's time to start using this thing

I've been encouraged by my aunt cynthia to start actually using this thing to post random art projects i'm working on, as well as (mostly) just stuff that i end up doodling in my sketch book. i have a long way to go before i'm even close to being as good as some of the other sketch-blogs i read, and i figure keeping this site updated might keep me drawing as much as i possibly can. let's see if i get any better.

anyway, the last thing i posted, the tree head lady, was something i did about 2 years ago, when i inked a lot of the stuff i had in old sketch books. i'll be posting those here and there, too.

first, here's a small sketch of a painting i am going to do for my dad's wine cellar:

and here are some things i've done in the past couple of days at work and while watching tv. ignore the notes, they won't make any sense

BEWARE OF THE GROSS LITTLE MONSTER PENIS IN THIS ONE

if you're one of my friends reading this, you'll see that there's a tiny caricature of jimmy fitzner at the feet of that gross monster.

i've been sort of into drawing long crooked noses lately, in case it wasn't glaringly obvious. just something i've been doing the last couple of days.

alright, well, i'll have more later hopefully
